| An
exhibit of original art work by area artist Pat
Wilson Schmid will be on display at the Mennonite
Heritage Center from September 7 through November 7,
2008. You are invited to the opening reception on
Sunday, September 7 through from 2 to 5 p.m. where
the artist will be available for informal
discussions about her work. Light refreshments will
be served.
Born and raised in Bucks County,
Pennsylvania, Pat grew up appreciating the pastoral
environment surrounding her. Nature and the area’s
heritage are close to her heart. Unusual lighting
effects are of particular interest in her painting.
After graduating from college, she moved to central
Montgomery County. Eventually she restored a
farmhouse built in 1717-1718 and built a studio
where she works daily. Pat is a member of the
Philadelphia Watercolor Society, The Philadelphia
Sketch Club, Artist Equity, Wayne Art Center, the
Cheltenham Art Center, the Perkiomen Valley Art
Center, the Greater Norristown Art League, and
Historic Yellow Springs.
Much of her
work reflects the local landscape, her many years of
travel, as well as the cultural life, rugged shapes
and strong lighting of the coast of Maine. The A
Painter’s Journey exhibit will include oil
painting, waters and photographs. A number of the
pieces will be available for purchasing.
